Women’s Tennis Hosts League Rival Stony Brook on Friday

ALBANY, N.Y. – University at Albany women’s tennis (9-9, 1-0 AE) takes a four-match winning streak into an America East match-up against Stony Brook (8-3, 0-0 AE) on Friday at 11:30 a.m. The match will take place at the Varsity Courts on the UAlbany campus, weather pending.

Last weekend Gordon Graham’s Great Danes took a pair of 5-2 victories over Sacred Heart and Long Island. Freshman Alba Sala won all three of her matches last week handily, earning her America East Women’s Tennis Player of the Week and ECAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week honors. Sala is also on a two-match winning streak on the No. 1 doubles circuit alongside Cheryl Kukkonen.

The Great Danes are at or above .500 in the month of April for the first time since 2010. UAlbany tennis is also 4-1 at home this season behind wins against Hofstra, Marist, Hartford and Bryant.

The Seawolves enter the contest on Friday with a five-match winning streak in hand. Stony Brook most recently beat Manhattan 7-0 at home on Tuesday, and hasn’t played on the road in the month of April.
