Women’s Golf Ties For Eighth At Rutgers Invitational


PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The University at Albany women’s golf team wrapped up its fall slate Tuesday with an eighth-place finish at the Rutgers Invitational in Piscataway, N.J. The Great Danes tied the hosting Scarlet Knights with a score of 635 in the 20-team field.

After shooting a 326 in Monday’s opening round, UAlbany shot a 309 on day two, led by freshman Paige Fujihara’s 74. Fujihara (81-74-155) tied for 18th-place (+11) in a field made up of 112 players.

Graduate student Sam Schuffenecker (76-81-157) tied for 25th, carding a combined score of 157, while senior Lisa Agoglia (81-83-164) shot a 164, tying for 62nd place.

Displaying dramatic improvement from the first 18, junior Victoria Choi (88-77-165) and freshman Rosalee Hearns (90-77-167) both carded a 77 in the final round, tying for 65th and 74th-place, respectively.

Taking top honors, Delaware (302-301-603) finished the invitational 27 over par, followed by Seton Hall (302-306-608), and St. John’s (311-306-617). Individually, Seton Hall’s Erin McClure (73-73-146) grabbed the title with a +2 mark.
