UAlbany women’s XC ends drought

The drought is over.


The University at Albany women’s XC team clinched their first ever America East conference championship Saturday.


Led by junior Hannah Reinhardt’s individual conference title, also a first in program history for men’s or women’s, the Danes finished in 16:54.75, 21 seconds clear of second place. The scoring gap was 66 seconds.


The women’s XC team was the last team at UAlbany without a conference title.


UAlbany has now won 100 America East championships, and 108 overall conference championships The women’s team snapped New Hampshire’s streak of five consecutive cross country titles


With the win, they snapped New Hampshire’s streak of five consecutive cross country titles.


Senior Cara Sherman placed seventh overall in 17:36.60, earning First Team All-Conference honors as well as the women’s Elite 18 Award for holding the highest GPA among the top finishers.


In two weeks, the journey will continue as the Great Danes will travel to the University at Buffalo for the Northeast Regional Championships.
