UAlbany MLAX Hosts In-State America East Rival Stony Brook on Saturday

ALBANY, N.Y. – On Saturday, April 12 at 7 p.m., UAlbany hosts America East in-state rival Stony Brook at John Fallon Field, looking to stay undefeated in conference play.

Tickets for the UAlbany-Stony Brook game are $ 7 for general admission and $ 2 for children 12 and under and seniors 65 and over.  The game will be broadcast live on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel with broadcasters Zach Bye and Andrew Santillo, as well as online on AmericaEast.tv. 

The Great Danes have fallen out of the top-20, but have received votes in each the USILA Coaches Poll and Warrior DI Media Poll.  Stony Brook is not ranked in either poll.

UAlbany last played on Sunday in a 15-11 victory over Hartford, its second game in a span of 36 hours, on the road to earn a 2-0 conference record, standing 5-5 overall.  Stony Brook got a 10-7 victory over Vermont last Saturday to snap a three-game losing streak, coming into this contest at 1-1 in the America East and 5-7 overall.

Winning two meetings last season, UAlbany has a 13-10 edge in the overall series with Stony Brook.  UAlbany and Stony Brook account for eight of the last 12 America East titles.

Lyle Thompson and Miles Thompson stand as the two top offensive players in Division I.  Lyle Thompson is first in DI in assists per game and points per game, standing with 42 assists and 23 goals for 65 total points.  Miles Thompson stands with 40 goals, #1 in the NCAA in goals per game, adding 20 assists for 60 total points.  Ty Thompson, Ryan Feuerstein and John Maloney all have at least 15 goals.

On the defensive side, Blaze Riorden remains #1 in DI in saves per game, standing with a 55.9% save percentage and 11.73 goals per game.  James Burdette has caused 10 turnovers on defense, while Cody Futia has caused nine and scoop 12 ground balls.

Stony Brook, the host of the 2014 America East Tournament, will be playing the first of two road conference games with Binghamton next week.  Ranked in the top-10 in Division I in goals per game, sophomore attack Brody Eastwood stands with 35 goals, shooting 56.5% this season.  Sophomore midfielder Challen Rogers is the team’s leader in assists with 24, adding 16 goals.

The Seawolves have started three different goalkeepers: with the most time is freshman Hayden Johnstone, who has a 51.7% save percentage and allows 10.46 goals per game.  Junior LSM Alex Harris has caused eight turnovers and scooped 26 ground balls.
