Shereesha Richards Earns Second Straight America East Player of the Week Honor

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the second straight week to open the season, UAlbany forward Shereesha Richards is the America East Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Richards earns her second conference weekly honor in as many chances this season.  She has seven weekly conference awards in her UAlbany career.

In perhaps the greatest non-conference victory in program history on Thursday, a 69-59 win over Marist, the freshman forward shot 10-12 from the field for a career-high 28 points, adding 15 rebounds for her second double double of the season.

As of Monday, Richards is averaging a double double a game with 22 points and 12 rebounds a contest, leading the America East in both categories.  She also is shooting 67.5% from the field, the top mark among America East players who have made at least 10 baskets.

Her play has helped UAlbany start 3-0 for the first time since the 2010-11 season.  The Great Danes will look to continue their strong start on Wednesday when they host Cal State Fullerton at 7 p.m. at the SEFCU Arena.
