Reigning America East Champion UAlbany Men’s Lacrosse Predicted to Finish First in 2014

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The University at Albany men’s lacrosse team in predicted to finish first in the America East in 2014, released in the conference preseason poll on Wednesday.

UAlbany received five out of six first-place votes to get a maximum 25 possible votes after coming off an undefeated conference season in 2013.  The Great Danes, the 2013 America East champion, have been selected to finish first for the second consecutive year.

14th year head coach Scott Marr, the 2013 America East Coach of the Year, returns seven all-conference players and four all-rookie team members from last year’s championship squad.  Three of them, Lyle Thompson, Miles Thompson and Ty Thompson, earned All-America status last season at attack.  Inside Lacrosse ranked UAlbany’s attack unit as the top corps in the country.

Stony Brook got the other first-place vote and is predicted to finish second in the league with 21 points.  UMBC was placed at third, with the rest of the poll in order: Binghamton, Hartford and Vermont.
