PRINCETON, N.J. – After navigating the first two days of IC4A and ECAC Championships, the University at Albany outdoor track program had a few athletes competing on the third and final day.  The third day comprised entirely of finals events, either in the field events that had yet to compete, or in final rounds of events that ran trial events the day before.

Abel Gilet kicked things off in the men’s shot put, placing 29th with a throw of 49’-0.25”.  Solène Bastien placed 17th in the women’s triple jump with a mark of 39’-4.5”.  The men’s 4×100 relay placed sixth in 41.07.

In the men’s high jump, Alexander Bowen successfully defended his title from last year, taking first once again, jumping 6’-11.75”.  Matthew Campbell and Kingsley Ogbonna tied for fourth with fellow freshman Kyle Bryant of Rider, jumping 6’-8.25”.

Samantha Kosa placed 13th in the women’s shot put, throwing 44’-9”.  Jeremiah Obeng-Agyapong placed fifth in the men’s 400 hurdles, finishing in 52.53.  The men’s 4×400 relay placed eighth in 3:20.34, running on pace to finish in 3:09 before the anchor leg tied up, falling off the pace.  At the end of the competition, the UAlbany men placed 12th in the team competition, tied with Rutgers, scoring 25 points.

Any athletes continuing after this weekend will participate in the NCAA East Regionals, taking place in Jacksonville, Florida starting on Thursday, May 29.  Athletes will be competing for a chance to qualify for NCAA National Championships, which start Wednesday, June 11 at the University of Oregon.
