Spoiler Alert: Do not continue reading if you’ve yet to watch Scandal’s season three premiere!
“It’s Handled” … just kidding!
ABC’s hit series “Scandal,” returned for its third season, and it came back with a vengeance.
In the season two finale, the sum of all our fears came true when someone leaked a certain little secret to the press that the Fitzgerald Grant, President of the United States is having an affair with crisis management extraordinaire, Olivia Pope. With the new season premiering on ABC on Thursday Oct. 3 at 10 p.m., jaws dropped nationwide as millions of Americans watched the most twisted and Scandalous 45 minutes of the show to date.
Pope’s CIA and mysterious father, Rowan, gave her a chance to run but a friendly face from the White House convinced her otherwise, and no it was not Romeo oh President Romeo, but the one and only Cyrus Beene, who is the President’s chief of staff.
The President’s right hand man seemed to be on her side in the beginning of the episode but towards the end he had a change of heart. One sentence set it all off, “Start a kill file on Olivia Pope,” and so it begins the ambitious slut card. Will he use it? We have to wait and see.
But what is more awkward than having your mistress and wife know the existence of the one another? How about having your mistress and your wife in the same room trying to find a way to cover it all up now that it is world news. Shocking right?
As the gladiators from Olivia Pope & Associates formulated a plan to “handle” the situation, Pope, Fitz and the first lady, Mellie, met in secret to figure out what to do.
“The truth works,” Pope and Fitz agreed, but Mellie, the first lady not so much. After the meeting ended Fitz and Olivia had a moment. Not the moment they usually have on counter tops or ruffled in between sheets, but a sweet and sensitive moment. It was the first time we saw Olivia Pope cry in front of anyone.
Mellie discovers the source of the leak; none other than her betraying husband. Are we surprised? Fitz admits it, “Now she is free,” he says about Olivia.
We are at war people! Pope has no idea that the President was the leak and as the two forbidden lovebirds prepare to come clean to the whole world, Mellie and Cyrus come together to execute their own little plan.
Why not “just kill another intern,” like Hulkberry Quinn suggested?
Quinn did not get that wish this episode but there is always a victim. Poor intern.
Suggestive videos of White house communications aide, Jeannine Locke sparked rumors that she in fact is the President’s mistress. Touchdown for Olivia Pope & Associates! The heat is off Olivia … for now. Guess who is their newest client? You guessed it.
This is far from over my dear gladiators. Just when we think we handled it Shonda Rhymes and the writers of the show, throw us a curve ball.
Rowan sends one of his ninja assassins and takes Cyrus at gunpoint to a secret location, in where he hands him a classified file of a mission Fitz and Jake Ballard flew in Iran when they were in the military together. Yes that Jake, how’s the hole buddy?
Less than five seconds after opening the file, Cyrus ends the episode with “Oh my god” and the “I’m about to get another heart attack” face.
More secrets? What did Cyrus see in the file? Where is Jake Ballard? Are we gladiators or are ____? (you fill in the blank)
What team are you?
