Metal Tony: My top two of 2012
Many, MANY albums were released this year, but very few have crossed my ears. Such albums that I’ve been dying to hear are Deftone’s Koi no Yokan, and Wintersun’s long awaited Time I, but I’ll settle for what I got: Marilyn Manson’s Born Villain and Cannibal Corpse’s Torture.
Marilyn Manson – Born Villain: As a relatively new Manson fan, all I had to listen to were their older works, so the release of this album was exactly what I needed. Any fans of the band’s other works would love Born Villain, and many may even consider it to be one of his best.
Cannibal Corpse – Torture: Many of my friends ask me why I even bother listening to CC, and all I have to say is “Alex Webster.” He is a kick ass bassist that needs no introduction. Some of his best riffs can be found on Torture, especially on “Strangulation Chair,” in which he delivers his best bass solo since Hammer Smashed Face. As generic as many of these tracks may sound, Alex Webster’s bass work makes this album worth the money spent.
