CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The America East has announced that Megan Craig and Shereesha Richards of the University at Albany have been selected to the 2013-14 America East Preseason All-Conference Team.

With two players on the team, UAlbany, the two-time defending America East champion, stands alone with the most preseason all-conference members.

It is the second year in a row that UAlbany has had two players named preseason all-conference, with Ebone Henry and Julie Forster being on the team last year, and third year-running that a Great Dane has earned preseason all-league honors.  Craig and Richards are each on the preseason all-conference team for the first time in their collegiate careers.

Craig, a 2012-13 America East All-Conference Third Team member, shot 54% from the field last season, second-best in the conference, averaging 10.6 points per game.  The junior finished in the top-ten in blocks and points per game, concluding last season with 330 points, 149 rebounds and 29 blocks.  She earned America East Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after earning 16 points and seven rebounds in the league title game against Hartford and led the Great Danes in scoring in the NCAA Tournament against North Carolina with 12 points.

Richards, the 2012-13 America Co-Rookie of the Year, led the league with a 61% field goal percentage last season, making 121 shots in 198 attempts.  She finished in the top-15 with 10.2 points and 5.9 rebounds a game, concluding with 315 points and 184 rebounds, earning America East Conference Rookie of the Week five times last year.  The sophomore was a key player for UAlbany in the title game against Hartford last year, scoring 12 points and grabbing seven rebounds, following up with a near double double of nine points and eight boards against North Carolina.

Tomorrow, the conference will announce the preseason poll via the America East Twitter feed, starting at 10 a.m.

Making up the rest of the five-member team is Amber Bepko of Hartford, Kelsey Hogan of New Hampshire and Sabre Proctor of Stony Brook.
