Megan Craig Chosen as America East Player of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After leading UAlbany to victory over Northeastern with a career day of 33 points, Megan Craig has been honored as America East Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

This is Craig’s first weekly honor this season and fourth of her UAlbany career, including two Player of the Week awards last year and a Rookie of the Week selection in the 2011-12 season.

For the team, it is the seventh Player of the Week selection this season, with Shereesha Richards winning the first six.

Before her NU game, she scored 11 points with five rebounds on New Year’s Day at Hofstra.

Then on Saturday, Craig shot 13-18 from the field and 7-11 from the line for a career-high 33 points in the win over Northeastern, tying for the third-highest single game total in UAlbany history.  It is also the highest single game total among America East players this season, surpassing Richards’s 32-point game at Dartmouth.

Craig and the Great Danes will get ready for conference play this week, heading to Vermont on Thursday, January 9th.
