LGBTQ vlog star to headline Speaker Series
STAFF REPORT — Youtube-famed LGBTQ activist Tyler Oakley will stop by the SEFCU Arena late this month as the latest headliner for the University at Albany’s annual Speaker Series.
Since 2007, Oakley has gained over seven million subscribers on YouTube with content often centered around LGBTQ activism, pop culture, and humor. Beyond vlogging, he consulted the former White House administration on using digital platforms to connect with youth. He also brought in a $1 million-plus for The Trevor Project, an LGBTQ suicide prevention non-profit.
Oakley has been listed on Forbes’ “30 Under 30” and Time’s “30 Most Influential People on the Internet.”
When: March 27. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., event begins at 7:30 p.m.
How much: Free.
Additional ticket information: Registration is required, and registrants may receive no more than four tickets. Attendees must bring a printed ticket to the event for entry, and the seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
