CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – University at Albany softball outfielder Annie Johnson was named America East Rookie of the Week on Monday, March 18. The freshman helped lead the Great Danes to a 4-1 mark at the Rebel Games.

Johnson (Medford, N.J.) batted .353, scoring four runs and stealing six bases in five games. She hit her first collegiate homer against Butler University last Friday in a 4-0 victory. It was a two-run shot in the second inning that fueled the Great Danes offense. She finished the game batting 3-for-4 with two RBIs, both career-highs. Johnson currently leads UAlbany with 11 stolen bases this season.

The Great Danes will conclude the Rebel Games on Tuesday and then quickly switch gears when opening up conference play on Saturday. They will travel to Boston University to play three games this weekend.
