Isoken Uzamere Promoted to Assistant Coach for UAlbany Women’s Basketball

ALBANY, N.Y. – UAlbany women’s basketball coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson has announced that Isoken Uzamere has been promoted to assistant coach for the 2014-15 season.

“I am thrilled to be back with the team and coaching on a great staff,” said Uzamere. “In two years, I have learned a tremendous amount from Coach Abe and her staff that I am excited to apply in my more hands-on role. I am grateful for the opportunity and I am looking forward to the season.”

“We are excited that Isoken is staying with our family,” said Abrahamson-Henderson. “She has earned it with all of her hard work and she embodies everything we look for in empowering our young women.”

Uzamere will serve as a recruiter, work directly with the UAlbany post players, oversee the team’s managers and student assistants, serve as the team’s strength and conditioning, nutrition and weight room liaison, and assist with scouting reports and game preparation.

Uzamere served as the team’s graduate assistant manager the past two years, earning her Master’s Degree in Interpersonal and Intercultural Communication this spring.  During those two years, she helped UAlbany to win a pair of America East titles and a combined 55-9 record.

Uzamere played forward for Hofstra and was a two-time Colonial Athletic Association All-Academic player in her junior and senior seasons.  She served as the head coach of the Long Island Knights AAU Program in 2012 and was a counselor and coach at Game 7 Sports.
