Football Week One Preseason Update

ALBANY, N.Y. — The University at Albany football squad donned full pads for the first time in preseason camp Friday morning at Bob Ford Field, marking the Great Danes’ fifth team practice.

“Our effort level has been outstanding since the day I got here and I think that’s something to build on,” said Head Coach Greg Gattuso, who is in his first season at the helm. “I think the bulk of the team is starting to believe in what we’re doing and we need to be that way. We need to be a great team to have a chance to win games this year.

“There’s an urgency right now and I like that. I like that with the coaching staff and with the players,” added Gattuso. “They understand that we have 22 days to play Holy Cross and that’s a very short period of time to get what we need done. They’ve been urgent and we’re working hard and we’re excited about tomorrow, having a double practice.”

UAlbany opened preseason camp on Monday and the Danes kick off the 2014 season at home versus Holy Cross on Aug. 30th. The game will air on ESPN3 at 6:00 p.m. Season and single game tickets are currently on sale. Click here to explore ticketing options.
