ALBANY, N.Y. – In preparation of the University at Albany football program’s first season in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), the Great Danes play their annual Spring Game Saturday. The intrasquad match-up is open to the public and will begin at 3:00 p.m. on University Field.

The Great Danes have been practicing since April 1st, readying for the Spring Game with 12 contact days, eight tackling days, and two full scrimmages.

The game will consist of UAlbany’s offense facing off against the defense in four 10 minute quarters with a five minute halftime. The offense will be awarded six points for a touchdown, three points for a field goal, one point for a PAT, and one point for a first down. On the other hand, the defense will gain points if they force a turnover (6), force a missed field goal (3), stop the offense before the 50-yardline (3), stop the offense after the 50 (2), or force a safety (2).

With the construction of Bob Ford Field, Saturday’s friendly will mark the last game ever UAlbany will play on University Field. The gridiron has been the home of the Great Danes since Bob Ford started a club football team in 1970. In 43 seasons, UAlbany accrued a 135-67-1 record on the field.
