Fire in Albany ends in fatality

A man was fatally injured in a fire in an apartment building in Albany last night.

Firefighters responded to the emergency on 5 South Pine Ave. around 8 p.m. on April 20.

They found a 36-year-old man who was unresponsive on the third floor of the building. After trying to revive him with CPR and other measures he was transported to Albany Medical Center where he later died.

The firefighters got to the scene on South Pine Avenue under control by 8:50 p.m. No one else was injured.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
