Del Fava Named Women’s XC Performer Of The Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – University at Albany junior Silvia Del Fava was named America East Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week for the week ending October 6.  Del Fava led the Danes to a 23rd place finish at a team in Lehigh University’s Paul Short Invitational over the weekend.

Del Fava placed 10th overall in a field of 406 athletes from 48 teams at Lehigh University’s Paul Short Invitational.  Her time of 20:40 represented a season and career best by over 2 minutes, as well as UAlbany’s second fastest time ever for 6K.  Only her teammate, Brittney Lane, has covered the 6K distance faster, when she ran 20:24 at Northeast Regional Championships a year ago.

Del Fava is UAlbany’s second athlete to be named Women’s Performer of the Week, and third selection in as many races as the Danes have competed.  Lane was awarded the honor in the first two meets of the season.

The men’s and women’s teams will enjoy next weekend off before competing in either the Pre-National Invitational or the UAlbany XC Invitational, both scheduled for October 19.
