Quail St. Armed Robbery Suspects Not Found Near Alumni Quad
STAFF REPORT – Update 4:30 p.m.: It’s unclear if one or two suspects of an alleged Quail St. armed robbery reportedly fled towards Alumni Quad Thursday afternoon.
Earlier in the afternoon, a black male in dark clothing accompanied by a white female approached a Quail Street Market store counter with an item that appeared to be a handgun and demanded money, an employee reported.
They left the store with an undetermined sum of cash, Albany police reported.
The incident is currently under investigation.
Update: 3:33 p.m.: Albany Police have not found an alleged armed subject around Alumni Quad after a search of the area.
The suspect is still at large.
University Police remain in the area, but residents are no longer advised to stay inside.
Aran Mull, deputy chief of the University Police Department encourages residents to report to city police or UPD if they see something suspicious.
“Whatever your normal day-to-day business, you can resume that normal day-to-day business, but we still want to get folks — if they see something, say something,” he said.
